Happy Summer KnitWits!!!

This summer is just flying by!

It has been LOTS of fun at VivaLife on Thursdays seeing what everyone is getting creative with! (maybe it is all this heat that is keeping us happily in the a/c just knitting away?)
We've learned a few new stitches on the loom, shared design ideas AND we have several new friends that have joined us on Thursdays....now they're KnitWits, too! ;)

This lovely crocheted shawl is in the stack getting ready to be sent with the next group to China! They will be going again in September. You can check their blog (located on the right column) to keep up with info and get an update on the prayer requests leading up to the trip.

And y'all don't forget about Durango! We are saving hats and shawls to be sent with Pastor Mike and Rosy for Christmas again this year. Please keep them in your prayers as they seek to serve God everyday for these people. May they shine HIM in the midst of all the turmoil just south of us!

Here's a precious baby with a little KnitWit hat...many prayers and much love to you, Miley! May you grow to love the Lord all your days!

We always have a list of friends, missionaries and missions to pray over...you're welcome to add your requests to the list.

No knitting required, just friends and the fellowship of prayer!

Thank you to all the work and prayers you give to HIS work in China!
An update from the trip last month, when Peggy was in China last month with the Women's Connections team...

"Last month, the Women's Connections team visited the church to encourage these new believers. They met Lucy, a young woman who struggled to understand why her business wasn't doing well since removing the Buddha statue from her home. She considered putting it back in for good luck. The Women's Connections team gave her a prayer shawl and encouraged her to stand strong as this was a test of her new faith. Lucy was happy to learn that this was just a trial and grateful to know that she was being prayed for by her Christian friends in the US."
Please keep Lucy and the other prayer shawl recipients in your prayers, as God continues to use these gifts to encourage and grow HIS kingdom....ain't God grand!?!?
We just sent another box of prayer shawls, scarves and hats to go on the trip in May!
Peggy has shared that on the last trip they decided to have a drawing, to give away the shawls when they met with each group. Everyone seemed to enjoy and get excited over doing it that way...and it truly was a blessing to see who God gave each one to. Great times to see Him use these simple gifts to encourage so many!
We are excited also to see new people joining us on Thursdays and a few "old" friends stopping by again, too!

This summer we will have shawls on display at Jac-Lin's Florist/Art Gallery.  Our prayer is to expand peoples' vision of what God can do with a 'little' offering of time and talent...all of which come from Him anyway! :)

Blessed Beyond Our Imaginings!!!

What a busy March!  :)

We are all SO grateful to God for KatyLynn's progress after corrective surgery to one hip and ankle.
Now, she gets out of the cast shortly...please continue to pray for KatyLynn, Katy (her mom) and the whole family as they love on sweet KatyLynn who is such a blessing in their lives!

Our Friend Peggy is back from another trip to China. Please take a moment and read from her blog about this last trip...what encouragement it is to hear about what God is doing there!
Peggy has shared stories about so much of their trip and some about the KnitWit prayer shawls they have given over there.
It is a real reminder of just what our KnitWit ministry is all about ~ prayer and intercession! She says that every woman who receives these gifts is appreciative that someone waaaaay over here has made a gift for them, but more importantly they are overwhelmed to have been prayed for by someone who doesn't even 'know' them!
What an honor we have to bring people before our Father, and some before they even know Him!

And then on April 1st, we participated in the McAllen ArtWalk again! It was a busy night, with a pretty steady crowd going through Jac-Lins Flower/Art Gallery.

We set up with a few shawls and hats...and also had a power point running so people could see some of what KWs is blessed to do.
Barbara knitted and shared ALL about KnitWits to everyone that stopped by!
It was a real treat to be able to share stories of what God is doing around the world! We shared with many about Pastor Mike & Rosy and for the plane that is still in Mexico, but they are home safe and sound! Please continue to pray for them and to let others know, so we might be of help to them.

We are still receiving gifts of yarn to keep us busy, thank you Lord...as we've had a few new people join in on Thursdays and God continues to show us new needs to serve! So grateful for so many who make themselves available to knit and to pray for so many around the world... For the LORD your God will bless you in all your harvest and in all the work of your hands, and your joy will be complete. Deuteronomy 16:15

News from Durango

Pastor Mike has sent news from Durango. He and Rosy flew down with a plane full of 300 pairs of shoes and other supplies.  All of the shoes were delivered to some very happy children!!!  And things are being worked on at the mission there, like the water situation. That does have some problems, but here's the biggey prayer request....

As they were flying out of Durango yesterday, just about 9 miles out, one of the engines went out. They managed to turn back around and get back to the airport with the one remaining engine. Thank you, Lord!!!

So, Pastor Mike has asked for us to please pray! He always says they're counting on their KnitWits to be praying...
First, just how God wants to deal with this...does HE have an engine somewhere, or funds for one, or just what HE wants Mike & Rosy to do.
Second, in order to get back home, they certainly cannot take a bus (affordable, but waaaaaay too dangerous!), and flying out from Durango, with all it's connections, is expensive.
Pastor Mike knows that God has put, what we perceive as a detour in the way for a reason, so they know they're walking in His provision.

May God's answer be soooo big we will all be singing His praises because we know only He can do this!!! PLUS, the devil's pretty upset over all that they are doing to continue to serve in Mexico, so there!

KnitWits will be at ArtWalk tomorrow night At Jac-Lin's Florist, Main St. & Maple. Please join in!!!
This can be a terrific opportunity to share about KnitWits and to put the word out about the needs in Durango.  We'll set up a table and put up another sign for donations to help with this, so please spread the word to your friends!!! Perhaps part, or all of God's provision and answer to this is through one of them.

Thanks for praying!!!!

Thursday's FUN!

We come in all sizes & shapes...
What fun we had on Thursday!!!
Ann is working like crazy on a whole bunch of animal hats...aren't these great?

The frog hat made it to Mexico for Christmas, now the bunny, dinosaur and bumble bee are ready to hop, roar and buzz off with the next trip out.

Pastor Mike and Rosy are back safe and sound from their latest trip to Mexico.  They are looking forward to coming and seeing all the KnitWits and spending a little time telling stories and sharing what God is doing in Durango.  We're going to plan another get together, soon!

We also had a great time going through all the yarn that the Boy Scouts and others have donated to us! Pics to follow on some of the fun things that are being made from God's provision there...

...For the LORD your God will bless you in all your harvest and in all the work of your hands, and your joy will be complete.

joy..Joy...JOY

Let's Share in the JOY of God's timing, together!!!

Just as I was sitting down to send a note to everyone about having another 'yarn swap', look what God did!
A friend of mine was working the donations to a Boy Scout event.  They had several boxes of thread, yarn and material donated to them.  Jenny said she immediately thought of her KnitWit friends! :)
SO, she asked if we could use any of this and they would then 'donate' to us...guess what we did?!?! ;)
Isn't God's timing just wondermous!
She went through several boxes and we loaded them up. Eileen came over and we sorted and did a little untangling.

There are some lovely colors, new textures...well, just fun in a box! :)

So, this Thursday no swapping, lots of receiving and Joy sharing!
Thank you, Lord for Your providing as always!

...For the LORD your God will bless you in all your harvest and in all the work of your hands, and your joy will be complete.

New Outreach in Durango

Pray, Praise & Purls!

Pastor Mike & Rosy leave tomorrow for Durango. PLEASE keep them in your prayers!  We delivered cammo hats, scarves, kids hats and a few prayer shawls to them today.  As God has laid this new aspect of outreach to the military in Mexico on their hearts, lets continue to pray for excitement and all of God's victories and plans for so many people!
HE knows the plans HE has for us!!!

And WOW, Pastor Mike also sent this picture of the new floor at the building in Durango!

Will send updates as we get them!

Excitement in New Victories!

Great opportunities, with great determination...
Praise The Lord!

Pastor Mike expressed a new facet of ministry that God laid on his heart, just after returning from Durango this past Christmas.  We've prayed and sought God on this, and of course, HE has answered! We have new patterns, more yarns and the looms are going!!!

The first few hats are completed and we're are currently working on more hats for Pastor Mike to give to the military men that they see in Mexico.  Mike was really struck by the faces of these men, who no one reaches out to.  They must hide their identities, for fear of retaliation by the cartels on their own families.  It is a thankless job and a very dangerous one.

Our prayer is that these hats will be used to introduce the God Who cares and loves us all, to these men.  They see so much darkness and death everyday.  May these token gifts of hats serve to open the door and bring the Creator of love and light to the hearts and souls of these men and then, their families!

We're trusting in a GREAT VICTORY!!!

I will tell of the kindnesses of the LORD, the deeds for which He is to be praised, according to all the LORD has done for us—
yes, the many good things
He has done for Israel,
according to His compassion and many kindnesses.

He said, “Surely they are My people, children who will be true to Me”; and so He became their Savior.
In all their distress He too was distressed,
and the angel of His presence saved them.

In His love and mercy He redeemed them;
He lifted them up and carried them all the days of old.
Isaiah 63:7-9

Christmas in China

A few
lovely pictures from Peggy, to share with everyone.
Please check out her blog for some great stories of what God did on their December trip to China!

Click here or you can always check in and see the link on the side of our page!

From Peggy's blog:
Heidi received one of the beautiful shawls made by the wonderful "KnitWits" in Texas.  With tears in her eyes, Heidi said she felt wrapped in love an prayer by these women from far away.  She is a Kingdom worker from Hong Kong and needed the support and encouragement expressed by the skillful hands of dear ladies.  Heidi loved knowing she will be continually prayed for!

What a privilege to pray for our sisters around the world!

Christmas 2010 in Durango

Pastor Mike, Rosy and Tom are home from Mexico!
Here they are handing out some hats just off the plane!

A few of the children stopped to pose for pictures in their new hats and coats.
On this trip they handed out over 2000 hats and ALL of them had the gospel presented to them, too.

Pastor Mike said that all the kids just loved the frog hat!
Do we have giraffes in our future? ;D

There is a return trip planned for January...details soon!

Rosy and Pastor Mike singing and praising with a group from one of the schools.

Please be praying for dear Floriana!
Some may remember her from 2 years ago, when she was flown into the city to have surgery to remove this large tumor.  They did get most of it and she recovered nicely.

Well, they saw her again on this trip and the tumor is back.

Pray God's will in this, that HE be seen to Floriana and her family in all that HE provides and does through this time.

Let's be Flor's 2 or more!!!

Matthew 18:20
"For where two or three gather in my name,
there am I with them.”

Durango - Prayers for Christmas

The last of the prayer shawls have been loaded

Let us all keep Pastor Mike, Rosy & Tom in our prayers!

They will be flying out on Monday the 6th for Mexico.  This flight will carry the last of their provisions and supplies for the Christmas outreach to kids this week.  They will spend the whole week with hundreds of children in several different villages.
Many people have contributed Bibles, clothes, money for plane fuel and of course a few hats and shawls! :)
Please pray and ask your friends to pray specifically for this ministry, as they work this week.
  • Prepared hearts to hear and receive God's word.
  • Safe travel in the air and on the ground.
  • God's Peace to go before them for each person they meet.
  • Joy-filled time of ministry & celebration!
Pastor Mike said today, "the greater the dark, the greater The Light!"  We join in thanks for God's great provision!!!
For we live by faith, not by sight.

KnitWits Knews of ArtWalk

KnitWits have been invited to participate in ArtWalk for November!

WOW!!! All over the country different forms of fiber (yarns) are being used for a plethora of fun things.  Our prayer shawl  ministry is one of these "new" things called fiber art. So, Jacque Hull, the owner of Jac-Lin's has invited us to come and share all about what we've been doing.  November is a month to truly celebrate Thanksgiving.
We are soooo grateful for the opportunity to show our community just some of the things that God has been up to with the KnitWits!

  • There will be pictures of some of the people and places that we have sent shawls and hats off to.
  • We will also have different types of shawls and hats for people so see.
  • A donation jar will be available for people to help with gas $$ for Charity Rescue Mission's next flights into Mexico in November and December.
  • And of course, we'll have extra looms and yarn ready to teach anyone who wants to learn right there!

Invite your friends ~
bring your friends to a KnitWit Thanksgiving!!!

What a fun time this will be
@ Jac-Lin's Florist/Art Gallery
Friday Nov. 5th, 6-10pm
Main Street and Maple, in McAllen.

Knew KnitWits :)

Perla's got it going round!
Getting started
What a lovely morning to sit and knit!

We are so thankful for the time we spent today teaching and making new friends!

GREAT job, JP!!!
We showed pictures from the scrap book and stories of what KnitWits are doing everywhere!  We were then blessed with questions of what they could do to help and how fast would they learn...they are so eager to get involved in God's work and be a part of it! :)

Round and round they go!!!

Mary and Perla starting the brim

Everyone took to the looms quite easily and were able to finish their first baby hats.

Please be praying for God's many blessings over this group.  We were blessed to be a part today!
