Back to School?

Well, it has been a very busy summer for everyone!
We have been working away and filling up bags of hats and shawls to be ready for this fall and Christmas!

There are TWO trips to China planned, our friend Melody at the dump church in Reynosa and of course Pastor Mike. SO, we're running circles around those looms.

Remember, we can teach you, too! It will take less than FIVE minutes. If you are looking for something different, some friends to hang out with and a fun way to put something good out into our world....come join us, we would love to have you!

See? There's some serious work going on here, too!

The girls have been really creative and we are all learning from them...is this the cutest hat ever, or what!

HAPPY FALL (soon), everyone!!!

Baby Announcement!

WELCOME!!!
Meet Xiaoxia's 8lb. 4 oz. healthy baby boy! We have been praying for this dear one and what a blessing to see him!
News of his arrival came just after KnitWits on Thursday. We're soooo excited and happy for the family! (More of their story is on the post below and the Women-Connect blog.)

We will all continue to keep the family in our prayers. Our hope and prayer is that this dear one will grow to know and love the Lord.

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.  Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.  Impress them on your children.
Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Deuteronomy 6:4-7

Another surprise came to KnitWits, too! Catty's dear girls made flowers all week. They're pros now!
Next week Barbara will be bringing some of our hats and we'll attach them and jazz things up a bit. :)

Now everyone is on the flower loom...learning and blooming away!

For such a time as this....

This morning, as I was sitting in the lobby of our church before service began, my phone sent a notification. So, I checked and it was Peggy posting pics from China! I was struck by the smallness of our world now…as Peggy was going to bed, having finished Sunday, we were just beginning and thru our technology we able to ‘talk’ across the world!

What a privilege to have the gift of prayer,  the opportunity to bring our cares, and those of others, before the throne of our loving God in every moment.

On the womenconnect blog, Peggy posted, Xiaoxia is the precious lady who was moved to weep upon receiving a shawl and knowing her American sisters would pray for her. Xiaoxia had been told by her doctor that she should terminate her pregnancy because her baby didn't seem to be growing well. She received such courage to carry the baby afterward and will deliver a healthy baby next month! Xiaoxia wanted us to know this and to express her gratitude! Let's continue to pray for a safe delivery and health for baby and mother. Amen? Amen!”

Praising God right now for His grace in the lives of Xiaoxia’s family! This is such a sweet reminder for us of God’s care and His plan for all of us!  Thank you for your continued prayers for this team and the participants. You can follow the updates here on their blog:

Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.
Luke 18:1

And THANK YOU all for your prayers for us during the Makers’ Faire we participated in! What a wonderful day!

We made lots of new friends and were able to share with many the work that God is doing through this ministry of prayer shawls.

So many seemed genuinely touched that perhaps they could take their talents and gifts and do a good work of the Lord, too! That was cool!

It was really a joy to our hearts to see several young ones stay for two hours to finish their hats. We didn’t get pics of everyone, but they all said they wanted to help give to the children who need them.

A few people also stopped by to donate yarn to us and that was truly a blessing in many ways. See, people do ask how we pay for all this and what our plan is. We always say, “GOD provides!”, which usually means they may look at us funny because we don’t have a definite “plan”…but we do!
And on this day we could point to that pile of yarn and say, “See? GOD provides!” Many thanks for our friends who brought yarn that told His story before we even touched it!

Then, a few of our new friends joined us at KnitWits on the Thursday following! We had fun making hats and getting to know each other a little better. (without all the fun/craziness of the Faire ;)
We are blessed beyond our imaginings with all God is doing and grateful for the friends He brings along the way!

Maker Faire

Well, it's almost here!!!! McAllen is having their first Mini Maker Faire this Saturday and the KnitWits have been invited to participate.

It is so wonderful how God weaves our stories together! Eduardo is the super-excited-energetic gentleman in charge of MF. We met him at Cordoba one day, just over a year ago. He and his sweet wife came in and shared a cup of coffee with us. The next few weeks they kept coming and we taught them both how to loom knit!

It is always a fun time to share with someone and make new friends. :)

WELL, a few months ago Eduardo came to Cordoba and asked us if we would like to participate in the Maker's Faire and we said yes. So ya know, the Maker movement is about finding out what gift or talent you have and doing it...put something cool out into our world.

Well, God has opened doors and expanded things beyond what we thought! Eduardo came up with the idea to have a Knit-along. That would be where others could come and join in and help "do for others" in our booth.

We are really excited about the opportunity before us, to tell others of what God has done thru this ministry of friends, to work with others and learn something new and make new friends.
We are KnitWits and we are blessed beyond measure!
