KnitWits on the MOVE

It's always wonderful to share God's provision...and here we go again!

VivaLife has been sooooo nice over the last few years to provide a place for us to meet AND we are sooooo grateful!!! In their new location, things going great for them, thank the Lord!  They are going to need their space now for ministry and growth, so KnitWits are on the move!

And guess what!?!?!?  There is a new coffee shop in McAllen, the Cordoba Cafe.  Edna and her family are new to the Valley and they have graciously opened their doors to us. You know, those people you meet and you feel like you've known them forever? That's them!

KnitWits met there yesterday for the first time...yummy coffees, lattes and cookies were enjoyed by all!

We will be meeting @ Cordoba Cafe on Thursdays for our regular times.  They are located @ 1303 N. 10th, McAllen, that's @ the northwest corner of 10th and Maple.
And another blessing...Over the last few years there have been several people who have expressed an interest in joining, but just don't have time during their work week.
SO, beginning in January, we will be adding Saturday mornings to our regular schedule!

Haven't decided yet, but either 1st and 3rd OR 2nd and 4th Saturdays....will get back to you on that!!!

We appreciate your prayers for Eileen, our friend and KnitWit extraordinaire, and her family!  They are moving back to Ohio to be with kids and family up there.  They will also be close to dear KatyLynn. We will all miss Eileen, but it is wonderful to know this will be a special time of blessing, service and love to be with their grandchildren and family!
(Sounds like a KnitWit road trip to me!!! )

Please be praying for Pastor Mike and the teams that are headed to Mexico!  He sends THANKS for all the hats and shawls that we delivered to them...so, the planes are taking things down to the mission in preparation for Christmas!

And please continue to pray for Peggy's team in China...
What blessings we are hearing from them!
You can get updates on that @ http://www.womenconnectinchina.blogspot.com/

Hope you can come join us in our new location, Cafe Cordoba...praying you have a blessed Christmas season!!!

Prayers & Purls~
And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God...

December is HERE!!!

Hey y'all!!!

Well, today is the day! We will be meeting at VivaLife, as usual and gathering up all those hats and shawls you've worked so hard on!
IF you can make it today, we'd love to have you come join us as we pray for those who are taking these shawls and hats.

☺ Peggy and her team leave today for another trip to China....and yes, she has her space bags with shawls and scarves!

☺ We will take what is brought in today over to Pastor Mike so that it will be ready to go on the planes headed for Durango, Mexico.  They are making a couple of pre-trips to drop off supplies and Christmas items before they go in mid December to the schools.

☺ We have also found a place to start a Saturday KnitWit group! We will be starting this in January, probably 2 Saturdays a month...will post details later, but please be in prayer for this as plans are coming together!

Thank you sooooooo much for all your work, not just with yarn, but especially in prayer for so many.  We are blessed to hear a few stories of how God uses these, but one day He's going to show us the whole tapestry of prayers and it's gonna be cool!!!   I look forward to that with you.

Don't usually include things like this, but thought you would enjoy a real, modern day Good Samaritan story. And remember, all you do in reaching out to those we don't know, in making yourselves available to serve God in His world,  makes a difference....
Well done and many prayers and purls to you all!!!

We had such a wonderful time last week meeting KatyLynn!
She and Katy are just precious
and we were all blessed for the time spent together!

The KnitWits gave KatyLynn a couple of Veggie Tale movies and Robin from VivaLife also gave her a fun dvd!  Please keep them in your prayers, as God continues to do wonderful things in their lives.

Also, wanted to let you know that we're still meeting @ VivaLife this week.  For those that haven't heard, VivaLife is doing a little remodel to the store. This may mean that the seating area will not be there anymore. They do love having the KnitWits and other groups meet and fellowship in their store, so we will see what the Lord leads them to have. Please be in prayer about it, as God may just have another spot for us to be in!

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Hope y'all will mark your calendar and join us!

Thursday, 10/13
KatyLynn & her mom, Katy
will be joining us @ VivaLife.
She holds a special place in our hearts
and we're really looking forward to meeting her in person!

 Saturday, 10/15 & 11/12

KnitWits have been invited to the Crafters' Mingle & Market, held at Jac-Lin's Florist/Art Gallery,
from 9 am to noon.  We will be selling a few shawls and hats to help with our shipping costs.
Tell a friend and hope you can stop by!

WoooooHooooo!!!!!
For those who haven't heard, Pastor Mike had to leave his plane at an airport in Durango, Mexico earlier in the year, because one engine failed. They have been working on funds and repairs for months...well, we got a note from Pastor Mike today!

They are flying down to Durango with a NEW engine for the plane! They will be doing the replacement and hope to fly back this Saturday.

Also, the two doctors that work at the church in the mission, have asked us to "not forget them". Because of the dangers of travel in Mexico, so much aide and medicine are not getting through anymore.  WELL, the Durango Christmas trip is ON! We let Pastor Mike know that we're still knitting away on hats and shawls to send with him and the team this year.

PLEASE keep this all in prayer!

AND, they have an invitation to meet with the governor of the state of Durango! Praise God for His provision and door opening!!!  From Pastor Mike's note:

"They are begging for us not to forget them as they have so much need and you know when God calls you He don't un-call you to do his work!

blessings to all who have helped in the past. I pray you will keep it up!

Mike

Charity Rescue Mission"

Don't you  just LOVE that!!!!
He don't un-call you to do his work!

Thursday, 12/1
Prayer Party @VivaLife before we send these off with Pastor Mike for the Christmas trip.  And we know y'all already do so much, but a few have asked if  there are any other needs and there is one....We will also be taking up an offering for gas money for the plane, like we did last year.

SO, keep those looms going round and the prayers going up!!!!

Lots of praises and pictures for you all.

We also send a big THANK YOU to my friend, Sue!
She knit these beautiful scarves and cowls!!! Then donated this big box of them for us to add to our Christmas hats and shawls!

<-- there we are ooohhhing and aaahhhing over the rainbow of colors!

This past Thursday, we arrived @ VivaLife to find another big surprise! Someone had left a big bag of yarn and looms for us to use as things keep growing! THANKING GOD for His provision!!!

And another wonderful blessing has come our way!!! We've been asked to help a group that is providing Christmas gifts and food for some families in a rural area close to Rio Grande City.  We hope to provide hats for all the kids!

SO, mark your calendars for our Prayer Party on Thursday, 12/1.
Please bring your hats/shawls going to Mexico with Pastor Mike to VivaLife Christian Book Shop and we will have a few refreshments, lots of fun seeing each other and close with a time of prayer and blessing.

Thank you for all your hard work, but most of all thank you for your continued prayers and joining in God's work all over the world! :)

Thank you, KnitWits!

You all have been working so hard all summer....

Another box has been sent to Peggy for the China trip in September.
Lots of color and creativity in those space bags!
It is soooo exciting to join in prayer for the people that God will bring across their path on this trip! Let's pray expectantly for all He has planned for them.

We also have hats and shawls piling up for Pastor Mike & Rosy to take to Durango for Christmas.  We are all aware that the lives of so many have been shattered in the last few years. Let's continue to lift them up daily, that God will provide and protect.

What great JOY it is to pray together and trust HIS promises in His word! Let's lift up HIS work in the lives of so many.

Happy Summer KnitWits!!!

This summer is just flying by!

It has been LOTS of fun at VivaLife on Thursdays seeing what everyone is getting creative with! (maybe it is all this heat that is keeping us happily in the a/c just knitting away?)
We've learned a few new stitches on the loom, shared design ideas AND we have several new friends that have joined us on Thursdays....now they're KnitWits, too! ;)

This lovely crocheted shawl is in the stack getting ready to be sent with the next group to China! They will be going again in September. You can check their blog (located on the right column) to keep up with info and get an update on the prayer requests leading up to the trip.

And y'all don't forget about Durango! We are saving hats and shawls to be sent with Pastor Mike and Rosy for Christmas again this year. Please keep them in your prayers as they seek to serve God everyday for these people. May they shine HIM in the midst of all the turmoil just south of us!

Here's a precious baby with a little KnitWit hat...many prayers and much love to you, Miley! May you grow to love the Lord all your days!

Our prayer and devotional time usually begin around 5:30, so if you're looking for a place to join in prayer with others, on this National Day of Prayer, we'd love to have you!

We always have a list of friends, missionaries and missions to pray over...you're welcome to add your requests to the list.

No knitting required, just friends and the fellowship of prayer!

Thank you to all the work and prayers you give to HIS work in China!
An update from the trip last month, when Peggy was in China last month with the Women's Connections team...

"Last month, the Women's Connections team visited the church to encourage these new believers. They met Lucy, a young woman who struggled to understand why her business wasn't doing well since removing the Buddha statue from her home. She considered putting it back in for good luck. The Women's Connections team gave her a prayer shawl and encouraged her to stand strong as this was a test of her new faith. Lucy was happy to learn that this was just a trial and grateful to know that she was being prayed for by her Christian friends in the US."
Please keep Lucy and the other prayer shawl recipients in your prayers, as God continues to use these gifts to encourage and grow HIS kingdom....ain't God grand!?!?
We just sent another box of prayer shawls, scarves and hats to go on the trip in May!
Peggy has shared that on the last trip they decided to have a drawing, to give away the shawls when they met with each group. Everyone seemed to enjoy and get excited over doing it that way...and it truly was a blessing to see who God gave each one to. Great times to see Him use these simple gifts to encourage so many!
We are excited also to see new people joining us on Thursdays and a few "old" friends stopping by again, too!

This summer we will have shawls on display at Jac-Lin's Florist/Art Gallery.  Our prayer is to expand peoples' vision of what God can do with a 'little' offering of time and talent...all of which come from Him anyway! :)

Blessed Beyond Our Imaginings!!!

What a busy March!  :)

We are all SO grateful to God for KatyLynn's progress after corrective surgery to one hip and ankle.
Now, she gets out of the cast shortly...please continue to pray for KatyLynn, Katy (her mom) and the whole family as they love on sweet KatyLynn who is such a blessing in their lives!

Our Friend Peggy is back from another trip to China. Please take a moment and read from her blog about this last trip...what encouragement it is to hear about what God is doing there!
Peggy has shared stories about so much of their trip and some about the KnitWit prayer shawls they have given over there.
It is a real reminder of just what our KnitWit ministry is all about ~ prayer and intercession! She says that every woman who receives these gifts is appreciative that someone waaaaay over here has made a gift for them, but more importantly they are overwhelmed to have been prayed for by someone who doesn't even 'know' them!
What an honor we have to bring people before our Father, and some before they even know Him!

And then on April 1st, we participated in the McAllen ArtWalk again! It was a busy night, with a pretty steady crowd going through Jac-Lins Flower/Art Gallery.

We set up with a few shawls and hats...and also had a power point running so people could see some of what KWs is blessed to do.
Barbara knitted and shared ALL about KnitWits to everyone that stopped by!
It was a real treat to be able to share stories of what God is doing around the world! We shared with many about Pastor Mike & Rosy and for the plane that is still in Mexico, but they are home safe and sound! Please continue to pray for them and to let others know, so we might be of help to them.

We are still receiving gifts of yarn to keep us busy, thank you Lord...as we've had a few new people join in on Thursdays and God continues to show us new needs to serve! So grateful for so many who make themselves available to knit and to pray for so many around the world... For the LORD your God will bless you in all your harvest and in all the work of your hands, and your joy will be complete. Deuteronomy 16:15

News from Durango

Pastor Mike has sent news from Durango. He and Rosy flew down with a plane full of 300 pairs of shoes and other supplies.  All of the shoes were delivered to some very happy children!!!  And things are being worked on at the mission there, like the water situation. That does have some problems, but here's the biggey prayer request....

As they were flying out of Durango yesterday, just about 9 miles out, one of the engines went out. They managed to turn back around and get back to the airport with the one remaining engine. Thank you, Lord!!!

So, Pastor Mike has asked for us to please pray! He always says they're counting on their KnitWits to be praying...
First, just how God wants to deal with this...does HE have an engine somewhere, or funds for one, or just what HE wants Mike & Rosy to do.
Second, in order to get back home, they certainly cannot take a bus (affordable, but waaaaaay too dangerous!), and flying out from Durango, with all it's connections, is expensive.
Pastor Mike knows that God has put, what we perceive as a detour in the way for a reason, so they know they're walking in His provision.

May God's answer be soooo big we will all be singing His praises because we know only He can do this!!! PLUS, the devil's pretty upset over all that they are doing to continue to serve in Mexico, so there!

KnitWits will be at ArtWalk tomorrow night At Jac-Lin's Florist, Main St. & Maple. Please join in!!!
This can be a terrific opportunity to share about KnitWits and to put the word out about the needs in Durango.  We'll set up a table and put up another sign for donations to help with this, so please spread the word to your friends!!! Perhaps part, or all of God's provision and answer to this is through one of them.

Thanks for praying!!!!

Thursday's FUN!

We come in all sizes & shapes...
What fun we had on Thursday!!!
Ann is working like crazy on a whole bunch of animal hats...aren't these great?

The frog hat made it to Mexico for Christmas, now the bunny, dinosaur and bumble bee are ready to hop, roar and buzz off with the next trip out.

Pastor Mike and Rosy are back safe and sound from their latest trip to Mexico.  They are looking forward to coming and seeing all the KnitWits and spending a little time telling stories and sharing what God is doing in Durango.  We're going to plan another get together, soon!

We also had a great time going through all the yarn that the Boy Scouts and others have donated to us! Pics to follow on some of the fun things that are being made from God's provision there...

...For the LORD your God will bless you in all your harvest and in all the work of your hands, and your joy will be complete.
